New DSLR camera, can't decide what I want

Okay so I shoot with instant cameras and some film cameras. I love film photography, but I have been considering a DSLR camera. Many of my friends own a Nikon D3000. And they love it. But, I was thinking of maybe the Nikon D3100… Any other suggestions or advice? I don't know much about digital cameras.

Well yeah, the D3100 is a very good camera for beginners. It's been replaced by the D3200, so if it's in your budget you can take a look at it.
The D3000 is a little too old now in my opinion. The D3100 performs much better.

Another option is a D5100.It has the same sensor as the D7000 and thus the same image quality. It's very good (it also shoots pretty decent full HD video).

If you want to look at Canon as well, then pretty much any of the Rebel series will be good. Like a t2i or t3i.

I don't know much about Sony, Pentax, Olympus etc, but they make excellent cameras as well. Google them or look on eBay.com, Adorama.com, BHphotovideo.com etc.

The newer the camera the better sensor it has thus better image quality at higher iso values, so go with the d3100 and if money is not the problem go with d3200
