Wide angle lens for a Nikon D50?

I have a Nikon D50 and am looking to buy a (more than likely used) wide angle lens. I'll be shooting music events-- think raves, music festivals, clubs, etc-- so a faster shutter speed would be good. If someone could help, that would be amazing! I'm trying to get an internship.

Wide aperture and wide angle means expensive, used or not. Unless you go to something like a Rokinon, which is a manual focus only lens.

Look at www.keh.com and the used section on B&H and Adorama websites to see what sort of prices you are looking at… You may be better off just buying new.

I primarily shoot low light concert photography in clubs and smaller venues.

My first low light lens (f/2.8 or larger - smaller number = larger aperture) was a Tamron 17-55mm lens. I love this lens. It goes from super wide to some zoom. I prefer the cheaper model without the Vibration Control.http://amzn.to/YZ6eD6 I was able to find the lens used on Craigslist for the awesome price of $225.

***This lens will get SUPER wide at 17mm and it will zoom to 50mm. Hands down my recommendation. You can see some shots taken with this lens here: http://showshots.net/concert-photography-swamptucky-at-geezl-petes-january-27-2013/

I also own the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM Autofocus Lens for Nikon Digital an the Nikon 35mm f/1.8D. Both are wide angle prime lenses. The Sigma lens is a piece of garbage in low light, period. It works great out in bright daylight, but it has a terrible time finding a point of focus in low light. Every show I have tried to shoot with that lens has been disappointing. Soft out of focus images.

The Nikon 35mm f/1.8D is pretty awesome in low light, but it doesn't have a super wide view.
