I bought my Nikon D5000 last January 17, 2011.It was used but when I checked the image number via Photoshop it was 7, 700+… Right now it is already 59, 000

I wanted to know what is the actuation rate for the Nikon D5000.

Unfortunately, this value is not read (to my knowledge) by any of Nikon's software; and the incompatibilities between Adobe PhotoShop and Nikon EXIF are legion. Thankfully, there's a neat litle freeware program from Opanda, iExif, that will do the trick. Check the source, hope it helps.

You are referring to the MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), otherwise known as the "average shutter life".

IMO… That is one of those useless pieces of information. How you treat your camera and care for it is the biggest factor in how long it last.

The same thing applies to cars. Just because a car reaches 100, 000 miles doesn't mean the engine just dies at that point. If a person does routine maintenance (oil changes, tuneups, scheduled repairs) a car will last a lot longer than a car that is driven roughly and never gets any maintenance.

I have heard of both cameras and cars that reach the 1, 000, 000 mark, and I have seen some that never make it past 50, 000.
