Needing some help with my Nikon d80.
So I'm sure I played around with one to many buttons.
Every time i zoom in i'm getting a completely blurred photo.
Could anyone tell me how i could set the camera to its default settings or how to set it so when i take a picture it is not blurry?

Whenever I have a question/problem such as yours, I read the user's guide
(aka "the manual").
It is amazing just how much I always learn from that.

If that doesn't help (or if I'm interested in a product I don't own), I check the manufacturer's website.
They have descriptions and specs for their gadgets, often have user forums, and the decent manufacturers all let you download the manuals in electronic form (so losing the book is no longer a problem).
Getting the PDF is also useful for those times where the printed book is rather small and useless - the PDFs often have more detailed information.

99% of the time reading the instructions does the trick.

Perhaps you have set the camera to manual focus, or you are too close to your subject (lenses have minimum focus distances).

When all else fails READ & STUDY the Owner's Manual for your camera. If you don't have it you can download a copy here: http://support.nikonusa.com/...hotography

Could be a lot of reasons.

Is the lens 100% compatible?

Is autofocus turned on at both the lens and camera?

Is your shutter speed sufficient to prevent blur at the selected focal length?

Do you need to use a tripod for the lighting in your current situation, or is your lens fast enough?

Is the main subject or background blurry? Depending on which, perhaps your DoF is not sufficient (which is the result of the combination of focal length, focus point, and aperture), perhaps your settings are not correct.

Debra, I'm going to toss out one possibility that I haven't seen anyone post yet. There's a diopter correction dial right next to the eyepiece. It's rotated to adjust the viewfinder for differences in vision. Perhaps you've accidently moved it, and that would make the viewfinder blurry. Just rotate the dial back as you look through the viewfinder until everything is clear again.

One other possibility is your lens. Carefully take it off and see if there's a fingerprint smudge on the back element or on your camera's mirror. Either will cause blurring as you view it, and a smudge on the back element of the lens will affect both the view and the final digital image. If so, clean each surface off CAREFULLY with a soft clean lint-free cloth. Don't use any solvents or cleaning solutions.

Hope this helps.
