I've got a nikon d5100 and was looking at this lens… Is it compatible with my camera?

It will mount and work, but it will not autofocus.

Yes and No.

It will work, but it will not autofocus as the D5100 does not have an in-camera focus motor.

Besides, that lens is rumored to actually be made by Tamron for Nikon. So perhaps look at a Nikon AF-S 55-200mm or AF-S 55-300mm, which will autofocus on your D5100.

So keep this in mind:

AF lenses will not autofocus on your D5100.
AF-S lenses will autofocus on your D5100.
