Would you say this is a sharp or soft lens (link to chart)?

I just bought this 50mm 1.4 Nikkor from ebay, and here is the included test chart that was photographed by the lens. It seems a little soft to me. What do you think (taken at f8, so not going to get sharper than this)

There's no place on the photo of the chart that looks in focus.

This usually means that the lens was not focused critically or that the focusing screen is not exactly positioned to match the film plane. There are a few reasons for this. If your other lenses focus sharply, then there may be something wrong with that lens. All you can do is have a camera repair shop that has the right equipment look at the lens and confirm your conclusions.

Usually there's some place on the chart that is in focus and then the images go soft toward the edges. Actually with an f/1.4 lens, the sharpest lens aperture would be two stops down or f/4.

Try this test again with your other lenses and with this ones aperture at f/4

If just the 50 mm lens is showing softness, then take it in for repairs
