How to set the sutter speed on my d90 Nikon camera?

I have a d90 nikon camera and I want to have a fast shutter speed. How do i set a fast shutter speed on my d90 nikon camera

You're kidding, aren't you? No? Has the the unimaginable thought of READING your User's Manual even remotely crossed your mind? Maybe not.

If for some strange reason… You threw your Manual away with the packaging, then simply go to Nikon to download it. I have even saved you the effort of having to type it in. Here is YOUR manual…

In M or S mode, you use the Command dial in back to adjust speed. In M or A mode you use the Sub-command dial in front to adjust aperture. If you are in A mode adjusting the aperture will indirectly adjust the speed that the camera automatically selects to work with your aperture selection. A mode is what I use most often, followed by M.
If you are in A or P mode, adjusting your ISO setting or your exposure compensation would also indirectly cause your camera to adjust the shutter speed it automatically selects.
