How long will it take for my camera to charge?

So I have the Nikon D70s, I haven't turned it on for at least 9 months or a year! The battery is obviously out, but I have charged the battery for over 17 hours, and it still won't turn on when I put the battery in. At Best Buy where we bought the charger, they said that it was the correct charger, so it isn't a problem with the charger… I don't think. How Long will it take to charge?

While I can't be specific on the charge time, I can say for sure that 17 hours is too long to wait - sounds like the time for a new battery has come. The battery has simply discharged too low and will not come up.

If this is a new battery/charger bundle, then you have a defective item.

You may have killed the battery by letting it sit for so long without being re-charged.

Are you it's the correct charger that you bought from Best Buy? Many times Best Buy gives out the incorrect Information partly because they are clueless about the products that they carry.

According to the Owners Manual your camera uses the MH-18 quick charger and the EN-EL3 Rechargeable Battery which only takes about 2 hours to recharge the battery.
Most likely be needing to get a new set of batteries.

Also to the Owners Manual it takes CR2 Lithium batteries

The Owners Manual covers all of this it's on Page 14 - 15

Li-ion batteries can't be left discharged over time. This is the most common way to kill them. The other is overcharging or overheating, something that will not happen if you use the Nikon battery charger that came with your camera

Usually it takes less than 4 hours to charge a Li-ion battery when its charge is low, usually somewhat less than that. 17 hours tells me that it is NOT the charger, but the battery itself.

If you bought a generic charger, you may want to return it for a Nikon charger because the generics do not communicate with the battery when charging and what can happen is the battery will overheat or overcharge, shortening its life.

Best Buy says it's the correct charger? The first thing I would do is get a second opinion. I once took Best Buys word for something. Never again. However, in their defense, allowing a li-ion battery to lay around dead for a year is probably the best way to ruin it.
