D5100 NIKON not working with RODE?

I have a D5100 NIKON camera and I decided to buy a RØDE mic I used it with the camera then there's no sound but when I use the mic with the pc it works fine. :/ Anyone has a solution to this or have the same problem?

Did you turn the microphone off as per page 109 of your manual?

If you don't have a manual, download one from Nikon.
