Canon d60 problems and what else is better?

Been trying to decide what mid range DSLR I could get at my budget under £650, was about to order the canon 60d and have come across a lot of completaints about the cameras grip peeling off!
Now I'm stuck and don't know what to buy again. I want it to shoot concerts and portraits at a pro level but can't I Can't afford at the moment mark 5i ii iii nor Nikon 7d. What else could I consider, this is such a headache
thank you for the help
Added (1). Hi thanks so far, I meant Nikon 7000. The canon d60 has had complaints where the grip handle has come off, badly glued!:?! It has a lack of micro-adjust, those that mean that all my new lens will have to be sent off to be calibrated? Extra cost and if I don't does that mean the the bloody lens will be difficult to focus with this camera?

Why do you want a camera grip? Do you have big hands?
If you have small hands the camera grip is very uncomfortable and does not help for the stability of the camera.

Its not the d60 that has the grip problem and that one is outside your budget.
the problem is with the 600/650 where the rubber changes colour and should have been fixed by now

Nikon do not make a 7D - that's Canon!
Have a look at the Nikon D5200 - that's around your budget.
However, if you are wanting to shoot portraits at pro level, you may want to get a slightly lower spec body & spend you money on decent fast lenses and some off camera lighting - these will be essential for good portraiture & are far more important than the camera body.
Edit: Micro adjustments for lenses are in the (rare) event that lenses are back or front focusing. Most lenses are fine & have no problems.
- Is the Nikon D60 better than the Canon D60?
- Is anyone else in love with the new nikon D4 and D800?
- Nikon D3200, Sony a58 or something else for video and sport photography?
- I have owned a Nikon D50 and Canon Rebel T1i and looking to upgrade. I'm looking at the Nikon D5600 and the Canon Rebel T7i
- Is Nikon or canon better? And what dslr is a good starting camera, something better than t3i or t5i to start with?
