Best Settings for Nikon D80 DSLR Camera?

I've bought a Nikon D80 from a friend, I been toying around with it for a while, but can't seem to get good quality pictures, what settings do you recommend I use to get good images from my D80?

That's a question that's hard to answer since I have no idea of what you are shooting, under what conditions and what you consider wrong with the images. Your best bet initially is to use the auto settings located on the mode dial. All except P, S, A and M are auto settings. Read the manual and if you don't have one, go to Nikon's website and download one for free.
