Best lens for nikon D5100?

Can someone suggest me the best lens for nikon d5100? I'm a beginner. I would like to learn photography. I wish to become a photography in future once mastering the techniques of how to use the lenses properly. A cheap lens to start with. So confused to go with kit lens or telezoom or whatever. Also looking for a used lens for Nikon d5100 in France.

Go with the 18-55mm VR kit lens. It's the best lens too start with.

The 18-55 lens that generally comes as the "kit" lens is a fine starting point. If you want some more reach, just add the 55-200 for about another $150 when you buy it as part of a kit.
