All of your answers are in the camera's manual. Read it.

Why would you want to do that?

Digital images need to be copied to a computer at the end of each day. Once they are safely on the computer, the card needs to be formatted in the camera.

It is a rare day that you will fill a 4 gb memory card with still images. Even if you shoot a lot of video, a 16 gb card is about the largest single card you need, especially if you carry a spare.

Here is the problem.

If you were to ever partially fill that card and it became corrupt, recovering all the images can become a problem.

Stick with a handful of smaller memory cards and get into the habit of copying all the images you shoot at the end of each day.

My guess is that you want to use your camera as a storage device… It isn't

I use a Nikon V3 and have never had to use a memory card larger than 16 gb when shooting time/motion studies (high-speed video)

The bottom line, if you look in your cameras user manual, you would have seen that your camera can use SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards… That includes 128 gb memory cards

Yeah. But why?

No BS answer:

Manual:

Page 188 says camera supports SD, SDHC, SDXC

- No mention of UHS-1 support
- No mention of capacity limits

Official Nikon Article:

- Lists camera supports UHS-1 cards
- Maximum tested and approved card capacity for SDXC is 64GB

Like this card:
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/..._SDXC.html

- Class 10
- UHS-1 card
- Maximum tested and approved card capacity

128 GB card might work, might not.

Wouldn't use card that isn't recommended and tested ( Personally ) although, some would and don't give an F-Stop.

Why on earth would you want such a large memory card!
You should always remove images from the card on a regular basis and store them safely on your computer. Memory cards are not meant to be storage devices.
It's best to use several smaller (say, 8gb) cards in case a large one becomes damaged or corrupted.
