Even stupid people look at Canon as well.

Intelligent people know that there's no best (beyond the Sony SLT's edge in video), and look at Pentax too, choosing the camera that feels best in their hands.

The best Nikon DSLR is the one at the top of their range. Currently that's the most expensive one, as with any manufacturer.

The Nikon D4s costs around $6000.

If you have to ask this kind of question, and you think you only want a Nikon, then look at the D3300. Otherwise, take the time to do your own research and make up your own mind about which DSLR make and model is best for YOU.

Questions like this are often followed by the question: "What's the best Nikon for $300-400?" People want to know what's the best, but when they find out the best costs $3,000 - $6,000, then they're willing to consider the cheapest models that are far from being the best.
Sure the D4s is a great camera for most working pros who don't print very large and need the superior high-ISO performance. It's also one of the best cameras for sports and wildlife photographers. But for the beginner, it could be the worst choice ever. It's physically large and heavy which means that you're more likely to leave it on the shelf and not bring it with you.

The D810 is one of the best DSLRs for those printing large and don't necessarily need very high ISOs. If they do, then they'd go with the D4S.
The D750 and D610 are a great compromise in price to the D810. It's designed for those wanting a full-frame DSLR and who need higher high-ISO performance than what the D810 is capable of.

Then there's the APS-C cameras. The D7200 is the new kid on the block and is Nikon's best APS-C camera.

With any brand, as the price increases, the camera is more capable of consistently taking more shots in a larger variety of situations. For example, while the D3200 and the D4S both have continuous AF and continuous shooting, you'd notice that the D4S will be able to track the movement MUCH more precisely and accurately while maintaining a much, much higher frame rate. You can expect to get 90% or more of the shots in perfect focus. Use the D3200 in the same situation with the same lens and you'll see that it will only get at best 70% of the shots in focus. When you use your camera to pay the mortgage and put food on the table, that's a difference that you must have.
So, what's the best? The best is the one that allows YOU to make photographs the way YOU want to. Sometimes you need a high-performance off-road vehicle that goes anywhere and does everything. And sometimes you just need a Prius to get to work.
