XPRO1 & Nikon SB800 & Pocketwizard?

I re-programed my Nikon pocketwizard (MiniTT1 & TT5) to basic mode so that it can be used on Fujifilm X PRO1 camera. Works fine, fire consistenly however the bottom 20% of the picture turns out dark (seem un affected by the flash) even if I point the flash directly at the subject. It is not the flash coverage is causing this for sure. Because when I turn the camera sideway, the bottom (now verticle) 20% still dark.

Anyone gotten this problem? Any help is appreciated.

Drop your shutter speed.

Dark tops, bottoms or sides with flash are a common problem with focal plane shutters when the speed is too high (look it up for a full explanation).

Set your shutter speed to 1/60th or lower or check your manual for the correct speed (the Nikon flash can't set it because the contact's in the wrong place).

As above… Your shutter speed is too high. Look in your manual for the max sync speed of the camera. This is the maximum shutter speed that will allow the flash to cover the entire frame while the shutter is open. The number varies wideley… From 1/60th to 1/250th, depending on the specific camera model. Some very old film bodies even used 1/15th! In the "old" days, the max sync speed was usually marked on the shutter speed dial. Now you don't have that luxury on most cameras.

You can fudge the max sync by 1/3 to 1/2 stop higher on most cameras, but the only way to know for sure is to experiment.
