Would a Nikon Sigma 170-500mm lens fit a Canon 60D?

I have been looking at buying a new camera and the Canon 60d is definitely the one I want to get. But a friend of mine has the Nikon Sigma 170-500 lens and is saving it for me but it didn't fit my previous Nikon camera (which was a Nikon 1 J1) and I was wondering if it would fit a Canon 60D at all? If it will definitely not fit a Canon 60D, do you know of any Nikon cameras that are similar or just as good as the Canon 60D that would fit this lens?

What mount is the Sigma? What camera does/did your friend use it on? You have to have a camera from the same manufacturer.

No

If you want to use it, you will have to use a Nikon camera like the Nikon D7000, which actually has a sensor that out performs the 60D

Not directly and without any practical function. You will be able to purchase an adapter which gives you the ability to attach the lens to your camera, but you'll have no control of the lens with the camera, so you will only get wide open aperture, and no AF.

You will be better off getting a Nikon DSLR body, however you're going to need to know more about the lens in question, if it has HSM then all Nikon bodies are compatible, if it doesn't have HSM, then you'll need a D50/70/80/90/7000/100/200/300/300S/600/7…

No it won't fit - it's a Nikon mount.

The Nikon D7000 (or the older D90) would be good choices.

No, it will not fit.
But go ahead and buy the Canon, which is a great camera. It will have a kit lens with it as an offer. You can build up you Canon lens collection as and when you can afford to. Don't buy a camera just because you can get hold of a lens to fit it!
