Would a nikon 18-55 lense be enough for a team photo shoot?
I'm doing my first photo shoot. I've been doing senior portraits and family portraits for over a year and have no problem there but I was approached to do a team shoot and there's good money in that so i'm giving it a try. My only question is should I rent a wider lense or just stick with my 18-55 lense because there are only 12 girls on the team… And maybe 2-3 coaches that doesn't make for a very large group. If you think my kit lense is not enough can you please recommend one that might do it? I can rent alot of different lenses from my local camera shop.
I think it's possible. Just be creative on how you pose them.
Your kit lens is fine. Pose them on bleachers so that you can double them up. If you can't, have the row in front kneel or sit. That way the group is not too wide. Don't use the wide angle end (18).It will distort those on the edge. Better to back up and use the 55 end. Don't shoot into the sun. Avoid mid-day in the sun. The light is harsh. Best time of day is early morning or late afternoon. The light is kinder then.
