Will this lens work for me?

Doing a wedding in January will this lens work
That is not what would be considered a wedding lens… Too long, and too slow.
You need a crash course in wedding photography… Really fast. Having a camera does not make you qualified to call yourself a wedding photographer, and asking a question like this just proves the point.
Here is what you need at a minimum
* AF-S 50 mm f/1.8
* AF-S 24-70 mm f/2.8
* SB700 dedicated flash
* four to six 4 gb memory cards
What you will eventually need is a 70-200 mm f/2.8 and a second camera body
What you Can't buy is the two to three years of experience necessary to be a professional wedding photographer
I did not include the high speed computer and software you will need.
If you are a paparazzi sneaking illicit shots from a distance it may work!
WAY too long!
Assuming you are using a cropped sensor APS-C camera then you need something in the 24-100 range for general shots with a good fast 50mm for the close up type shots.
A good flash would be useful too.
