Why won't my computer transfer my pics?

I have a P100 nikon digital camera, for some odd reason, why I hook it up to my computer, this box pops up that says "camera connected, please select a program to blah blah this action, but in the box, there are no programs listed… How am I supposed to get my pictures on my computer?

Plug camera in.

Left click start icon bottom left of desk top.

Left click 'Computer' from right hand menu.

You should see icon for your camera in window. Double left click icon and open your picture files.

From there you can copy them into your picture folder on the computer.

To clarify what is happening a little more -
Normally digital cameras come with an install CD that also has a basic photo editing program on it.
After this is installed the program automatically launches each time the camera is connected and then transfers the pictures. Your computer has no program associated with this action.
