Why won't my Nikon D5300 connect to my iPhone 5c through Wi-Fi?

I have a Nikon D5300. I took some pictures today and I want to transfer the pictures to my iPhone 5c. Well, I followed a tutorial that said to turn on my camera s Wi-Fi. I did, and I checked the SSID. After I did that, on my iPhone, I went to Settings-Wi-Fi and then I pressed the SSID for my camera. It takes more than 10 minutes to connect to my camera. And after 10 minutes has passed, it disconnects which doesn't give me a chance to be able to use the Nikon app "WMU" which is published by Nikon on the AppStore. The tutorial said once I connected to my camera through Wi-Fi, I could transfer and download my pictures from my camera to my iPhone 5c using WMU, the app. What should I do? Is there any other way I could transfer my pictures to my camera? Or can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Sounds like you are doing all the right things. The problem may be that you have strong interference from your own home's Wi-Fi or neighbors' Wi-Fi. Make sure your phone and camera are close to each other. You could try doing this setup in a different location in your house or maybe outside your house.

I don't know if it's your problem, but the iPhone 5 and 5c didn't have a particularly strong Wi-Fi receiver. To verify, you could try your Wi-Fi setup on someone else's newer iPhone.

Agree with AlCapone regarding the multitude of signals.

Be sure that you are trying to connect to the right Wi-Fi signal. I've made the mistake of trying to log into the wrong Wi-Fi network.

I live in a condo complex and had to switch out my Comcast modem because it only used 2.4GHz. There were so many 2.4GHz signals that I couldn't connect. Switching to a 5GHz modem not only fixed the connection problem but it's a much faster Wi-Fi connection too.

If you're like me and live in an area with a lot of Wi-Fi signals, you'll need to upgrade your modem to a dual-band.

Is there another way to transfer pictures TO your camera? You mean to say, you are putting pictures from the phone to the camera? Those pictures won't show up in the camera. The camera is not a viewing device!
