Why does my camera only upload my vids and not my pictures?
I have a nikon S220.whenever i try to upload my pics and vids it when i look at the folder the pics were imported to it only shows the videos. It worked fine before. Then i went to the giants super bowl ceremony and its like one of those once in a lifetime things and i deleted all the pics once i uploaded them and they were gone! But the videos were there. Any ideas?
Are you using the file manager to copy All the image files, both video and still using a card reader?
This is the way those of us using digital cameras have been doing for over a decade.
You may have lost your images due to an inconsistent file copying process.
Here is what you need to do in the future.
* Remove the memory card from your camera.
* Insert it into the card reader on your computer, if your computer does not have a card reader, buy a USB 2.0 card reader (under $10) and use it
* Copy all the image files (video and still) to a new file folder on your hard drive, named for the subject and date Sample GiantsSuperBowl2012.
* Once you are sure All those files have been successfully copied (NOT moved) to your hard drive
* Format the card using the format feature on your camera.
Do this at the end of each shooting day. Don't wait.
Memory cards are only temporary storage and must be formatted from time to time to keep them working properly. Store you images on the computers hard drive and back them up to a DVD disc from time to time
