Why are my RAW photo files showing as only 18 in Photoshop?
This discussion has proved to be really useful as I've had the same problem and now I'm confused what I should do next. My RAW photo files are showing as only 18" in Photoshop. I need them to be printed at approx 40", would you just leave as is and send to print or re-size up to the correct size in Photoshop i.e in inches. Mine is displaying at 240 dpi/ppi but only 18" with RAW from Nikon. So not sure whether to leave it, scale up to correct size and keep resolution the same, or change both the size up and res to 300. Some help on this would be amazing.
Have to ask… What quality do you want coming out of the printer… Example… You want 2400 dpi ( you may need to have replacements cartridges on hand )…32 gigs of ram… Or do you want poster quality ( 200 dpi )…
What size you are printing at… I'd resize the photo in the program your using… And in that program… I'd select the dpi / quality… Leaving the printer only to do what it is told to do…
Oh as a note… I'd make a copy of that photo and use that copy in your adjusting… This way if an oops is made, you have not destroyed the original…
Thanks for you response. I was hoping for poster quality. Great, I think I'll leave the resolution and just upscale the size.
