I was wondering what setting are needed on a normal (film) camera to gain the following "ghost like" or whatever you want to call it affect.

What makes this image unique is the lighting, composition, exposure and a little trickery by shifting the image just a tad and leaving it translucent in post production

The shutter speed necessary is based upon whether the camera is mounted on a tripod, being hand held and the shutter speed necessary to use the cameras lens aperture

From the EXIF data in the image file, we can see the following:

Make = NIKON CORPORATION
Model = NIKON D800

Date Time = 2013-03-10 15:24:16

[Camera]
Exposure Time = 1/4000"
F Number = F0
Exposure Program = Manual
Metering Mode = CenterWeightedAverage
ISO = 100

The F Number being F0 shows that the lens was probably one without a CPU, thus the lens, lens aperture and lens focal length are not recorded

The photographer did use a Exposure Bias Value = +0.33EV (one third stop under exposure)

That photo has some metadata embedded; according to the data that was shot at 1/4000 of a second, which is VERY fast.

I'm guessing that it's an in-camera double exposure: he takes one shot, gets the model to move very slightly, and shoots again. Then on top of that, I imagine that there was some photo manipulation done afterwards to make the "shadow" seem transparent.

I can't see any way of doing that in a single shot.
