What lenses work with the Nikon FG (film camera)?
What lenses work with it?
Nikon AlS…
Any Nikon F-mount lens besides Pre-AI, also known as Non-AI. The most proper lenses for it are manual focus since the body does not have auto focus or auto aperture. Newer automated lenses will fit but either won't work or will lose functionality anyway. Specifically, you want to look for Nikon Series E and AI or AIS lenses.
You can find them at KEH.com, Adorama.com and BHPhoto.com. More expensive than eBay but will actually work with no problems and will have a return policy.
Enjoy your FG!
The FG was designed to work with AI/AI-S and Series E lenses.
Converted pre-AI lenses will work, with exceptions which often depend on serial numbers. No invasive fisheye lenses will work.
AF lenses will work, but you won't get any AF function.
G-type lenses won't work.
DX lenses won't give you a big enough image to cover the film.
IX lenses won't fit.
