Please give the name of both, and as a bonus which one would better buying: cost and quality.

I want a small cute camera!

Small and cute is unlikely to be a digital DSLR. If you are set on a DSLR, learn what they are all about and determine what you think is small and cute in that range.

Canon makes some really quality small and cute point and shoots, including a range of colors. Take a look at the digital Elph series, which weigh less than 5 oz. With card and battery. I have an older model Elph and it is excellent. This is the link, scroll down to see what they have. No matter what you choose, always us a neck strap, read the manual and learn all you can about your choice.

Looking at both Nikon and Canon, DSLR and point and shoot, to me, they are the best.

Happy shooting… Johnny.

Nikon and Canon dSLR's are oriented more for pro work. Olympus has been concentrating more on form factor. Check out their PEN series.
And please don't think it's not Nikon or Canon so it's not good. Olympus is much older brand than Canon and has been ruling the market long before Canon was even born. I'm a Nikon user, but acknowledge the quality of Olympus Zuiko system as one of the best, if not the best in the world.
Olympus E-PL2 is the latest PEN camera, however, Olympus is going to release three new PEN cameras on 30th of this month, if you can wait till then.
