What is is a really nice digital camera?

but what's the best digital camera out there for $185 or less? I just want very clear, hd videos/pictures.

You had me until you said $185, or less. You're not going to get a " really nice " camera in that price range.
I'd go to a place like Wallymart, K-Mart, Target, or Best Buy and see what they have on display.
For about $200, Walmart has a pretty decent bridge camera made by Fujifilm.

Olypus tg-320 (: works really good, about 175 dollars, 14mp, waterproof. It worked for me, It has separate setting for different types of pictures like documents, underwater, landscape, even pets and other things. It takes panoramas as well.

Couldnt agree more with Mr Vinagre. In that price range you can't get cool sharp pictures like with a dslr. But i'd advise you a recent model of a Coolpix or any other bridge camera of whatever other brand.they're not crazy good, but I have been able to get some out of it. Check with a local photography store or any electronics centre. Hope i could help

Another cameras please consider Nikon COOLPIX L810, Fujifilm FinePix S4200 (14MP, 24x Optical Zoom, 720p HD Movies)

For me, the best looking digital camera is the Hasselblad H4D-30 Ferrari edition. It doesn't do video and the quality of pictures it takes depends mostly on your skill. Worse, it's about $30, 000.

I'd advice you to get a Sony Cybershot instead which is built better and very easy to use but I see that you have already made up your mind with the cumbersome to use and short lasting Nikon Coolpix which doesn't take any characteristic from it's bigger and much better dSLR brothers.
