What first DSLR should i purchase?

I first had a canon sd750 and now i have an sx210is because of all of its manual controls like dslrs but am not to satisfied with its picture quality and want to move up to a dslr. I'm 15 and like taking all sort of pictures but mostly macro and long exposure… I already know the basics and want something that can grow with me. I was thinking something refurbished from nikon or canon and my budget is 600

Well i know your going to hate me since you sound like a cannon person…
but the Nikon D3000 is the PERFECT starter. I would recommend getting the Nikoor Telephoto lens f3.5(i think)-5.6 55-200 mm if you want to do good closeup photography.
altogether, that would go about 200 over your budget. But its a nice camera. (the nikon d3000 is i believe 600 dollars with a f 3.5-5.6 18-55mm standard kit lense. And the telephoto is 200.

At this time the Nikon D3100 or Canon 1000D/XS are probably the best ones at this time.
For refurbished ones, look for a Canon 450D or Nikon D3000
For macro work, you will have to buy an other lens. That can cost more than the camera.
Both can do long exposures
Visit a proper camera store before you buy, so you can see how each feels to you
