About to purchase my first dslr

I've been researching dslrs for some time now, and for what I plan on doing NIKON is my brand. For a long time I was set on the d90, but then I found the d7000 and fell in love. Yes I've also thought about the 3100, 5000, and the 5100. I just don't want a camera I'm going to grow out of in a few years. I plan on having this camera for a long time. I just want to know if this is a good option.

Added (1). Thanks ya'll! It's definitely between the d90 and the d7000, I myself do not care about the video part so that doesn't matter to me. I also am big on the 39 auto focus points and the dual memory card! I also like that the d7000 is compatible with older lenses as well as new ones.

All those options are good, my least favorite is the D5000, since it was replaced with the D5100.In the interest of full disclosure, I bought the D90 over three years ago and I don't think I'll ever outgrow it. When I chose the D90, I set up a chart comparing its features with my brother-in-law's D300. Then I guessed that the features of the D300 just weren't the extra $ to me. I have no regrets. I suggest you do something similar. The biggest disadvantage of the D3100 and D5100 is that you can't autofocus some lenses with them. Other than that, I would choose one of them today.

I'm looking at getting my first DSLR soon to as well, and both the D90 & D7000 are on my list. Some of my fav photographers use the D90 so I was leaning towards it. But the D7000 looks amazing as well, I just haven't decided if its worth the extra $300-$400.

Have you went on some of the websites that let you compare the cameras side by side? I know best buy has an option to do that, it may help in your decision.

The main thing about the D7000 that pulls me in is the fact that its faster & has 39 auto focus points VS the 11 the D90 has… Something to think about.

There are many good cameras… Problem is what is your experience of photography? You might find that a DSLR is expensive and more than you really need… Save your money until you are absolutely sure that you need a DSLR… Get a bridge camera for less money…
