Nikon SLR Cameras

What DSLR is reasonably priced and good for beginners?

I have used a Nikon SLR in the past and found it reasonably easy to use. Now I'm ready to invest in a digital camera, that without much experience can produce awesome looking photos, any ideas?

I've recently bought a DSLR myself, and I've never looked back from the one I bought, a Sony Alpha A290. You've got all the settings (no video though) and the colours are beautiful. Cheap too, find it here:

For what you get it's got an astonishing price tag, it feels extremely rugid and strong. I went into Jessops a few weeks ago to try a lens, it was on Cannon, and everything down to the flip up flash was cheap feeling (flash wobbly ect.), whereas on my sony, everything feels as if its built with strength in mind. I'd never change from Sony now.

Also here are the photo's I've taken with my Sony A290:

Though be aware, every photo in this album HAS been edited (some more than others) so don't think that thats what you get straight from the camera.

I'd suggest the Nikon d3100 - it's a great value, and easy to use. The Canon Rebel series is okay as well.

I do suggest that you stick with either Nikon or Canon - as you develop your skills, you'll want to buy moire lenses. You investment in lenses will be c=something you keep, even as you upgrade camera bodies.

As such, you want to stick to either Nikon or Canon, as those two companies make the best lenses, and the *lens* is the most important part of any camera.
