What cheap affordable lens can I used for a group shot? I have a Nikon D7200?
What cheap affordable lens can I used for a group shot? I have a Nikon D7200? - 1
The one that came with the camera, the 18-55mm kit lens. At around 24mm you can get decent group shots without noticeable distortion. At around 18mm you will be able to get very large group shots.
My guess is you are looking for a wide angle prime lens which will cover the full group.
The D7200 is a cropped sensor camera, so the only possible prime lens for that use would be the Nikkor 20 mm f/2.8 which costs about $625 unless you can find a good used one
Anyone putting a cheap lens on a D7200 should be boiled in oil.
If the 18-55mm or 18-140mm kit lens that probably came with it is not wide enough for you, I like my 11-16mm f/2.8 Tokina lens for wide angle.
Your question is impossible to answer because you haven't supplied enough information.
How big is the group? 5? 10? 30? 100?
What is the light like? Indoors? Outdoors?
What is "cheap affordable"? $20? $100 $250? $1000?
For daylight groups of 10-20 people I use a 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 at the 28mm end and use my legs if it needs to be wider. That cost me £75 used on Ebay. That is Canon but I'm sure Nikon will do something similar.
A 35mm 1.8 prime would be good or maybe a Sigma 17-50 2.8 (I found the 50mm G has to much zoom for group)
