What are the advantages of a Nikon and Canon DSLR?
They are both top quality cameras, for me, I would prefer the Nikon.
The advantages are the amount of R and D that go in to Nikon and Canon's dSLR line. Nikon has some of the best glass (lenses) in the biz and they also have great in camera image processing with the Expeed and Expeed II. Nikon also has a built in image database used by the camera to recognize what type of picture is trying to be captured.

Both offer great advantages over the dSLR market which is why you see most pros shooting a Nikon or Canon instead of a Sony, Pentax, or Olympus.
They're both the same. It depends on which model you compare.
