What a low-bugdet photocamera would you suggest?

I have a DSRL Sony Alpha 200, and I would like to have a compact camera so that I can take it together whenever I want, for example when going out etc, because a large camera is sometimes so heavy to carry. What would you advise? Canon? Nikon? Sony? (no Olympus, please)

With a budget that is low compared to a DSLR, you could get a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 for $360.

Nikon, Canon, and Sony all make good compacts at prices startiong at about £50/$70, so the choice is wide open. Obviously avoid Vivitar. I use a Nikon DSLR and a Sony compact - no point in telling you the model since I bought it 4 years ago and models have changed.
