Using 7.4V battery in my camera when the original was 7.2V?
I have a handful of Nikon cameras lying around here. My newest camera has a rechargeable Lithium ion battery that says the following:
7.2V 1230mAh 8.9 WH
In some of the older models I have a battery of the same dimensions that states:
7.4V 1030mAh 7.7 Wh
I tried out of curiosity to put the second battery into a camera that used the first that I listed. The camera turned on and worked fine. I'm wondering if I switch the batteries out will I be damaging the electronics.
Probably not. Voltages are expected to vary a little. The problem comes with charging a battery. A charger is expecting a certain amount of load and may not like a battery thats smaller than expected or larger than expected Wh
No problem. The voltage of a battery varies considerably between the time it is fully charged and as it approaches full discharge.
It think it should be safe enough.
- Using a battery grip without battery in it?
- Using camera flashlight of the camera using remote?
- Have a Nikon D7000, think I want a Canon 5d (original) instead?
- Is this site a safe site it has so much better prices than the original shops?
- If I were to sell my Nikon FM2 (silver) with original 75mm zoom lense?
