Suggestions for entry/starter level dlsr camera?
That is of good/decent quality? Or even mid level (not beginner or pro level) camera that does not break the bank budget? My boyfriend wants to start using one & want to get him one. He did use the film cameras before from canon in the past.
At this time in history, digital SLR cameras are rather amazing.
Sit down with your boyfriend and visit the Nikon and Canon websites and read about the cameras that cost under $1,000 including a lens.
Pick three or four and then visit DP Review and read the professional reviews of those cameras.
After doing that, you should have a better idea of which camera and camera system is best for him
And finally before you spend from $450 to $1,000 on a camera, visit the DXOmark.com and see how those camera sensors perform. The ones by the major manufacturers are all good. If he has experience with Canon film cameras then the operating controls might be slightly more familiar to him than for others. If he has lenses for those cameras and they're not very old they will mount directly to a Canon digital SLR. Did you try to get him to drop hints? Any DSLR is going to be more than good for any beginner. The DSLRs today are so good that it really is not possible to buy a bad one. However, that's not to say one won't be better for specific users than another.
My personal favorite is the Pentax K50. It has the best specs and performance of any entry-level DSLR and it's among the least expensive. Very well built and very easy to use too.
My next choice would be the Canon T5 or T6 series of cameras. Third in line (imho) is the Nikon D3xxx series.
Of course, you don't have to get a DSLR, especially if you're not shooting fast moving subjects. Any of the Sony mirrorless cameras like the A6000 or A6300 are fantastic cameras providing just as much performance and adjustments and just as good image quality of most DSLRs. The only downside to mirrorless is the focusing isn't as fast as a DSLR. The Sony A6300 is the lone exception to this rule. All dSLRs are good, all brands and all models. They are all basically the same. To be assured of the highest possible shooting satisfaction, buy the most expensive camera model you can afford.
Oh! For your Boyfriend? Why are you the one buying for him? Let him buy his own camera. He should be the one buying you things not the other way around!
