Photographers: What DSLRs are (best) compatible with old Nikon AI lenses?
My dad owns an old-school Nikon film SLR and a set of expensive AI lenses. He now rarely takes photographs anymore, since most places process digital photos only now.
If I were to buy a modern Nikon DSLR, which one would be compatible with the old AI lenses? And which would have the least limitations? According to this chart [http://www.nikonians.org/nikon/slr-lens.html] they're all compatible, but all with restrictions. Which would be the best buy?
My Nikon D100, D200, D300 and D3 all can use my old AI lenses
The Nikon D2, D700 and D7000 can use them as well
The D7000 even has an AI feeler. I don't know if any other models have that feature or not, but it is nice to see Nikon continuing support for old lenses. Better than brand "C" in my opinion.
