Olympus OM-D E-M5 or Nikon D5200?
I'm looking to get a new camera but I'm having trouble choosing which one would be best for me. Ideally I'm looking for it to be used to shoot movies but I also want one that is easy to carry around for street/ on the move photography. The above two are the cameras i'm most interested in, but I'm only an amateur so if anyone has any suggestions or tips as to what might be a good choice then please do say.
(i really like the water resistant and dust proof bonus of the olympus OM-D, i'm not sure about the other cameras with these features, anyone know any good ones?)

If you are looking at the Olympus OM-D E-M5 at nearly $1, 300, you may want to look at the Nikon D7000.It is in the same price range and has all the environmental seals you find so attractive with the OM-D E-5M and the Nikon cameras have a larger sensor.
The larger sensor is one reason the Nikon sensor performs better.

If you want portability for video, but a dedicated video camera. If you want to be able to shoot stills as well, look into the Panasonic GH2. Much better video than the Olympus, and much more portable than the Nikon.
For street photography/on the move, it's gonna be a real pain to carry around a heavy DSLR plus lenses(if you plan to buy more) in a bag. Very heavy and akward. An OM-D E-M5 is definitely more compact, quiet, and light.
While many of the members here favor Canon or Nikon cameras the Olympus cameras are generally excellent quality and they have many innovative products and features offering excellent values. If you are looking for more compact and lighter weight options that are still capable of outstanding image quality you will find that they merit very serious consideration.
One feature of the E-M5 (the official designation of the OM-D Digital camera model is E-M5, the OM-D is a designation that recalls the design and features of the OM series of 35mm film cameras) is an improved image stabilization function that corrects for motion on 5 axis. This is an improvement which can't be compared to anything from Nikon because they use "in lens" corrections on selected lenses rather than in the camera itself.
If you are planning on a career in photography there may be some valid reasons to choose Nikon equipment but Olympus offers a very good camera that takes advantage of the smaller sensor to make a truly compact camera AND lenses to have one of the most compact, interchangeable lens cameras on the market. I have used Olympus Four Thirds and Micro Four Thirds cameras for almost seven years and have found them to be excellent quality. Before that I used (and still use) Olympus OM 35mm camera models since the early 1980's because I wanted smaller, lighter equipment for backpacking.
