Nikon v. Sony for Digital SLR Camera?

If you really want to get into photography, I recommend Nikon, mostly because they have more lenses available.

Some of us regulars here feel, and I agree with them, that since only Canon and Nikon are chosen by professionals all over the world and that these two brands have been field tested for many years and hold up, always deliver and just don't seem to break down - Nikon.

Sony entered the consumer market a relatively short time ago. Their gear hasn't had the field testing that Canon and Nikon have had so again - Nikon or Canon.

Sony's tend to have better features on the body of the camera. These features don't let you take better pictures, they just make it easier. When choosing your first dslr you need to know that you'll be with that brand for a while. It's hard to switch after you have many lenses in your kit. Nikon has been around a long time, proving that they make quality cameras and will probably be around a lot longer. Best of all, with Nikon, you can always switch to Canon as Canon can use Nikon lenses.

I'd go with Canon and Nikon. Sony on the other hand, is really new, however, their latest models are getting better and better (announced a few days ago).

I'd go with Nikon in this case, like D3100, D5100 or D7000, depending on your budget.

The price difference isn't much so don't worry. I'm worried about picture quality lens and accessory options.durability and reliability of camera. I have read good reviews about both but more bad reviews about sony also is the ease of of use is it difficult to use or is it user friendly i do know everything when it comes to aperture, shutter-speed and ISO i have been taking classes in high school since i was a freshman now i'm senior and decided to buy my first DSLR please and thank you for all the help and info…
