Nikon ProStaff vs Vortex Diamondback which would you pick?

I will be shooting white tail at out to 300 yards and the scope would be in a 3-9x40

The Prostaff, you can get the BDC reticule for the price of the standard plex reticule with the Vortex

A Leupold Rifleman.
I'm sorry, but I own a Nikon Prostaff. They are made in the Philippines and are just not that good. When I adjust the focus to get a nice crip image and crisp cross-hairs on 3 power, everything is fine. But when I turn the power up to 8x or 9x, the cross-hairs become fuzzy. That's just now how a good quality scope should work.
People that recommend the Nikon must obviously have no experience with Leupold quality products. And, Leupold is made in the USA.

The quality of glass in the prostaff makes the difference to me.

Nikon makes good glass, I like the Niko-plex reticule and the Pro-Staff is a good value/cost scope. Vortex is newer on the market, has been getting decent reviews-haven't personally used one-but seems to pack all the right values in the right places. Toss up on value/performance but I've always been impressed with Nikon scopes.

Vortex. I won't buy another Nikon. You arent getting much for what you are paying. Vortex is turning out some fine scopes. And I feel that they will be giving leupold a run for their money if they already arent.
The BDC reticle in the Nikon's are garbage. More of a hassle than they are helpful. If you want some kind of BDC buy a mil dot reticle and learn to use it. But at >300 yards you don't need BDC.
I bought a Nikon Monarch, only because it was in my price, had feature I wanted that Leupold didn't offer in the same price range, and because of Nikons Reputation. If I would have know that I could have gotten a Vortex Viper for $100 more with more of the features I wanted I would have.

X2 on want a bigger bike.
I have a Nikon and I wished I had gotten the vortex. You really notice the difference if it is lower light, overcast etc.
