Nikon has the best camera out right now followed by Canon

Sony is alright, but the only reason why they do DSLR cameras is becasue they bought Minolta some time back.

stick with Nikon or Canon and you will not regret it

If it's just normal digital cameras for taking random shots, sony, canon, and nikon are all pretty good.quality wise of course canon and nikon are somehow better, but sony's hardware designs in those cameras for me is better.

as for DSLRs, canon and nikon both won't disappoint you, but i'd stick with canon just because i like it better and their design.sony dslrs: don't think about it.though there's been quite some positive comments on their newest dslr… But sony is a failing company, i'm just sayin'. We do business with them so i know.

Personally if find Canon better. Nikon and Canon are both very good camera manufacturers - you could ask someone else and they would say Nikon is better - its all down to personal preference…

You're probably best to find some cameras which you think you would like (and have a decent spec) then just research and read some reviews.

My choice early on was narrowed between Nikon and Canon.

It is because,

1.though other brands' units are lower in price their parts are difficult to get in my area. And I might spend more on the future.
2. These two brands offer more resources and products.

I choose Nikon over Canon because of lower noise.

here is an article discussing Nikon vs Canon vs any other brand.

If you are talking about entry level cameras, I can safely say that their image quality are all about the same not to mention its very subjective too. It's best that you go down to the store and feel for yourself how each model feels like in your hands as well as get to know the feature list and compare them to your needs and wants.

I chose Nikon over Canon and Sony because of reputation. I had heard and witnessed that Canon had very poor customer service. I like Sony products, I own 2 video camera's and a PS3 but I just don't like their dSLR cameras, its more of a lens thing or lack there of. Also Nikon's ergonomics are just perfect for me. I don't have to scroll through menus, Canon, to find and change basic settings which are at finger's length on my Nikon.

One final thing, compare the focus noise on a Canon compared to a Nikon Silent Wave Motor. You'll see, or hear, what I mean.
