Nikon lenses? Which one?
I have Nikon dslr 5500. I'm looking for another lease to use. I like to take photos of my niece and nephews and son, as well as some travel photos like landscapes
I like the Nikkor AF-S 55-300mm zoom lens. It's my all-round lens and stays on my camera 99% of the time.
As an all-around lens, the 18-55 that normally comes with the camera is a good choice.
The 18-140 is also a good all-around lens and is a better lens than the 18-55. This is lens I use the most.
For low-light (e.g., indoors without flash) shots of family, I like the 35mm f/1.8, although, it does have a lot of distortion for a prime lens. The 50mm f/1.8 is also a good contender and is good choice for portrait shots of people. If you have the 18-55 lens, you can see what focal length works for you.
Learn focal length. It's how lenses are classified. From there you will be able to decide what lens exactly will you buy next.
Presumably you have the 18mm to 55mm "kit zoom", which gives medium wide-angle (for landscapes) to very modest tele. You might do well with a 70mm to 300mm as an additional lens for distant things, or you might choose to replace your kit zoom with an "all-in-one" 18mm to 300mm zoom.
The 18-55 & 55-200 may all you'll ever need.
