I dropped it on the floor from about 2 feet, but it was enough to crack the screen, now Company says it's my fault, can I fix this myself somehow?

Nope

time to get it fixed which will cost a pretty penny

why weren't you using the supplied neck/wrist strap. It is there to prevent such things from happening.

Ouch!

unless it's insured I would reckon it, ll cost a lot of money, especially if it is the NIKON 1 that is an expensive camera as it is.

Camera abuse is ALWAYS the users fault.

A camera company can't be responsible for what people do that damages their cameras.

Like the good doctor said, use your cameras neck strap next time

Unfortunately you have learned the hard way why Nikon included a neck or wrist strap with your camera. In 40 years I have never dropped a camera because its a) hanging around my neck by the strap; b) secured on my tripod; c) safely tucked away in my camera bag.

Unless you are a trained camera repair tech you can't repair your camera yourself. Anything you do will likely cause more damage and might render your camera unrepairable. Send it to Nikon and pay the cost of the repairs and in the future USE the neck or wrist strap 100% of the time.

Since you're asking the question, we already know the answer. It's not a DIY fix.
Of course it's your fault! You dropped it! Figure on a couple hundred dollars repair bill.

That is awful.

But whether the camera be a Nikon, Canon, Sony, or whatever, no camera company will cover this kind of thing under warranty, as they all consider dropping your camera abuse.

It may be your fault but Nikon still can fix it. You only have to pay for parts and labor.
