Nikon f and Nikon Fg?
What are the differences between the two? Are they the same…
There's all the difference in the world.
The Nikon F is a legend - and the reason so many professionals swear by Nikon. Introduced in 1957, it was the world's first system SLR, Nikon produced a range of viewfinders and just about any lens you'd ever need - together with a host of accessories - simultaneously. Only the meter prism heads (Photomic) needed batteries - most heads are non-functional these days. All F/F2 kit is highly collectable - and priced accordingly.
It was replaced by the F2 in the early '70s.
The FG is a consumer SLR from the early '80s (just before autofocus), offering Av, P (the first Nikon to do so) and M modes, it was built to a budget and is not as robust as the F, although arguably a better (certainly cheaper) camera for a beginner. Without batteries, its use is limited.
