My imaging software of choice is Picasa, a free program from Google. It supports Nikon NEF Raw files as well as jpg and other standard formats. With Picasa, you can do basic editing (color correction, cropping, straightening, lightning, etc) as well as utilize several creative effects. Picasa also allows you to watermark photos, tag and caption them, as well as upload them to Picasa +, where you can share your files easily.

I have Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Elements, and Capture NX2. Lightroom is the best for editing RAW files, but you have to catalog the photos first which I dislike - you can't edit a photo on the fly.
