Nikon d7200 top led broken?
The top screen on my d7200 nikon broke and I was wondering if there's anyway to fix it without sending it to the factory? It's not the screen on the outside. Its literally on the ink part. Thanks!
I can only imagine how hard the LCD had to be hit to crack that piece of glass.
Since this is an LCD, there's NO "ink" and the break is causing loss of the data that controls that portion of the LCD.
If this is bothering your workflow, then you will actually need to return it to Nikon for replacement of the LCD
What I see is that the important bits, the shutter speed, lens aperture, battery condition, memory card indicators and remaining shots are still viewable. It does look like the light meter index is still visible
You will still be able to view all the necessary settings when looking through the viewfinder and when we're actually shooting, this is where our eyes will be in any case.
You could contact Nikon and see what their estimated cost of repair will be and make your mind up at that time.
This problem would not necessarily be a problem for me, except for the fact that it certainly diminishes the camera's value when you attempt to sell it later
That LCD is soldered on a plastic ribbon cable. Unless you know what you're doing and have the right skills to do it, I suggest you bring it in for service instead.
LCD displays can't be repaired, they must be replaced.
