Canon 60D Reviews

D5100 competes with the T3.
D7000 somewhat competes with the 60D, and both are more expensive and higher level than the ones above.
60D is a better camera, but 18-200mm is a horrible lens for something so good. The 18-135mm would be much better!
Here's a DSLR Buying Guide - http://www.the-dslr-photographer.com/2009/11/which-dslr-to-buy/
If you are looking at the 60D, then why not the D7000?
Either way… The 18-200 is a convenient lens, and not so much a good lens.
Better off getting the cheaper body and better lenses. If you want to cover some good ranges, get the 35mm f/1.8 and a 70-300 4.5-5.6 VR with the D5100. Total price should be the same.
The 60D is a good camera, but it can be somewhat inconvenient to shoot with and is missing a few dedicated buttons that would have been nice to have. (such as WB, BRK, flash comp., and a useable AE/AF lock), all of which are on the D7000.
I don't understand these people. They keep saying the d7000… Ya $1500… Ok Nikon d5000 great camera. But get a 18-270mm lens of you are looking for everything. About $400

You need to compare bananas to bananas.
Here is how the Nikon D5100 sensor compares to the much more expensive Canon 60D

The 18-200 mm VR or 18-200 mm IS lenses are good single lens solutions for both Nikon and Canon cameras
