In your price range there are only no dSLR cameras (SLR cameras are 35 mm cameras) that cost less than $575, closer to under $700

They are the Nikon D3100 and Canon (NOT cannon, that is a military weapon) T3/1100D

Here is how their sensors compare in lab tests

I always wonder where you people come up with these budget figures. If you would just spend some time looking at the cameras on their websites, you will have a better idea of what a realistic budget really is.

Save you pennies until you have $700 and then go visit some camera shops and hold these cameras in your hands.

You can sometimes find such cameras at lower prices at Costco or Sam's Club

It's Canon. None is better, the sooner you get that out of your head the better it will be for you to take pictures.

You don't want a baby one? Your budget doesn't really allow you to buy a $10000 model, I believe. And all DSLRs are the same in quality, if you have no talent no better equipment will help you. So learn and stop asking which brand, but which model specifically.

I would suggest you buying Nikon D3100 This is my first DSLR. It was purchased for a trip where there would be a lot of opportunity for taking pictures. The camerrqa met all my expectations. Being new to DSLR's I sometimes was frustrated when things settings changed and I had no idea what I'd done. However, that's more operator error than Nikon's fault. I love the fact that you can shoot bursts of pictures. That helped tremendously in a number of situations. The weight of the camera and lens is just so light to me that I hardly knew if I had it around my neck (and that is also true with the 55-300 zoom that I used much of the time. I also bought class 10 SDHC cards. That helps a lot when doing bursts as they load on to the card much more efficiently.
