Nikon 3100 Video quality?

Does the Nikon 3100d have high enough quality for making, music videos or short trailers. (I'm intending to use the camera for a Creative Media Course in college).

I don't know about the 3100, but i got the Cool pix L105 and they have a great 1080p videos.each video can be up to 30 minutes long but you only get a few. But if your videos are under a half an hour you get way more. But i would think it would have a good video

Yes with the right tools a DSLR shooting video can become a decent video camera. BUT. It isn't optimized.

Even though yes DSLR"s can do video they are optimized for Images not Video.

So if you are serious buy a video camera. Yet with an external Microphone. Some good software and a good set up sure you can make some lovely videos.

Still for the pro works you need pro gear. And that isn't cheap. Look I bought a Sony A65.It can do video. But it is more suited for images. To make it into a video monster I would need to invest at least $1000 in a rig with a microphone, stabilization and so on.

But if you buy a video camera and an external Mic then you are quicker off to make some high quality video.

See it works. But yeah you kinda need to keep in mind that you will need a rig for the pro stuff, an external Mic because.yeah the sound is half decent.

Also the D3100 being such a basic model, sure it has allot but. Nikon like company keeps the useful tools for the higher bodies. If you want to film.go D7000. That has more controls you see
