Nikon SLR Cameras

Looking for the right point and shoot digital camera?

I'd like to buy a new point and shoot digital camera, something easy to carry around and use at social events and that type of thing. I'd like it to be able to take quick shots. I hate it when you are posing for a picture and the camera takes long or does that double flash thing. I'd also like it to include a video option with sound. Currently I have a Nikon SLR but it's too bulky to bring with me everywhere. I've looked a bit at an Olympus, Sony and Nikon but any suggestions would be great and maybe why they are better.

Don't go for the Nikon, I have a Nikon SLR that I love, but apparently the point and shoot are not so good. I've heard positive things about the Olympus, but I bought one not 2 long ago, and I wasn't happy with it, of course I probably just need to change some settings.

All small P&S cameras suffer from shutter lag, some even worse than others, so you won't get away from that.

The "double flash thing" is a red eye reduction feature that you can simply turn off - read the manual to learn how.

Narrow it down to a few choices, then go to the manufacturer's websites, download the manual and study it carefully. That way you'll learn stuff, and you'll make the right choice for you.

Save yourself a lot of headache by staying away from Kodak and Vivitar.
