Looking for a good first camera?

Hi I'm looking for a camera. This is my first camera and I'm looking for one that has good battery life, has a good zoom and shutter speed. My price range is $200. I tried Nikon but I heard the battery life is not to long. Any suggestions?

One of these will be great for you!

Nikon has an amazing battery life on most cameras. I have not charged my Nikon S8100 for a week and I constantly take photos and videos.
But to answer your question, I would get a small compact camera. My first camera was the Nikon coolpix S570. Not the greatest video quality, but it makes a lot of other cameras very easy to use.http://www.nikonusa.com/Nikon-Products/Product-Archive/Compact-Digital-Cameras/26178/COOLPIX-S570.html
I got it for $167.

Casio Exilim EX-Z2000 has excellent battery life and has better image quality than most point and shoot cameras.
