Looking at getting a lens for my nikon which would be better?
I can't decide between the 24-105mm f2.8 or the 18-200mm f3.5. I like both because the 24-105mm has a f2.8 which lets in alot more light and easier to take at concerts or in dark palces. On the other hand the 18-200mm has a great zoom range but its f3.5 which is a little harder to take in darker places and doesn't give that much of a buttery background that a f2.8 gives. So with your expert advice, which one should i invest my money into?
Added (1). So sorry! Information WRONG! WAS MEANT TO ASK ABOUT THE 24-85MM sorry for the miss leading question
I have both the 24-85 mm lens I use when shooting indoor sports (that and the 300 mm f/2.8)
The 18-200 mm lens is the one I use most for shooting editorial assignments. The VR feature is helpful when shooting in low light conditions when a flash is not appropriate.
The one you choose to buy first will have more to do with the subjects you tend to shoot. My guess is that for now, the 18-200 mm will give you the most coverage, from wide angle (landscapes) to telephoto (action, sports and some wildlife)
NOTE: The 24-85 mm lens is f/2.8 at 24 mm and f/4 at 85 mm, not a big deal really
I agree with fhotoace, the 18-200mm is the way to go. I have one as well, and have not been disappointed. Using the correct filter makes a difference as well.
